When it comes to your vehicle’s transmission, you can never be too careful.
If transmission issues are caught early, then a lot of costly damage can be prevented. The easiest way to keep on top of any problems before they become major is with regular servicing.
We recommend servicing your automatic transmission every 40,000 Kms or 24 months when used under normal operating conditions.
Under harsh driving conditions such as constant towing, off road or beach use, we recommend servicing your transmission at least every 20,000 Kms or 12 months to keep your transmission running properly, extend the service life and avoid costly repair bills.
Some modern transmissions have manufacturers recommendations of “filled for life” transmission fluid which have extended service intervals or are recommended by the manufacturer to not require servicing.
But we still recommend servicing these transmissions every 40,000 Kms or 24 months to increase life span and prevent transmission failure.
All transmissions have filters that require changing as well.

Oil Coolers

Automatic transmission repairs can occur for a myriad of reasons, but one of the most common culprits is overheating.
In short, keeping the transmission cool is the most effective (and easiest) way to dramatically improve the lifespan of your vehicle’s transmission. While the standard transmission oil cooler can suffice for normal operating conditions, it falls short of the mark if you use your vehicle for more towing and beach and 4WD purposes.
Whatever the cause, when the transmission fluid gets hot over extended periods of time, it ends up losing its effectiveness.
In these cases, we highly recommend the installation of an external transmission oil cooler. The external cooler uses outside air for heat transfer, rather than the already overworked radiator coolant. Thus an external cooler provides better and more efficient cooling to your automatic transmission thus extending the life of your transmission.
